Recommended Use

Premium spray finishing air hose. Class B oil resistance. Designed for all finishing operations as well as rugged industrial applications, especially applications requiring lubricants in the airline supply or where oil and grease are present in the environment. Excellent for use with water and water-based materials. Temperature range from –40°F to +200° F (max).

Tube

EPDM Class B oil resistance.

Reinforcement

High tensile strength spiral reinforcement. Specially designed for maximum flexibility (under pressure) and maximum coupling retention.

Cover

EPDM, red, smooth. Abrasion resistant. Oil Resistance.

Connections

1/4 in NPS connections are used. See air hose connections here. Most common hose size is 5/16" for air hose and 3/8" for fluid hose.

Frequently Asked Questions

What air pressure should I run on a Binks 2100 spray gun?

Start siphon feed at about 50 PSI for lacquer and 60 PSI for enamel, then back the pressure down to the lowest setting that still atomizes cleanly. For pressure feed, set tank pressure for the fluid flow you want first, then open atomizing air and adjust. The gun's maximum is 100 PSI air and 100 PSI fluid.

Measure at the gun, not the regulator. With 25 ft of 5/16″ hose and 60 PSI at the regulator you have about 48 PSI at the inlet; with 1/4″ hose only 34 PSI.

Too fine? Lower the air or open the fluid screw. Too coarse? Close the fluid screw (siphon) or raise the air (pressure feed).
Why does Binks recommend 5/16" air hose instead of 1/4" for spray guns?

Pressure drop. Binks' own figures for a 25 ft hose with 60 PSI at the regulator:

  • 5/16″ I.D. loses 12 PSI, so the gun sees 48 PSI.
  • 1/4″ I.D. loses 26 PSI, so the gun sees only 34 PSI.

That missing 14 PSI is the difference between a clean fan and a coarse, spitting pattern, and it gets worse with longer runs. Trophy guns likewise call for a conductive hose of at least 5/16″, larger for long runs. Clemtex stocks 5/16″ assemblies in 25 ft and 50 ft, and bulk 5/16″ hose by the foot.

Also: pitch air lines back toward the compressor with a drain at every low point, and mount the oil and water extractor well away from the compressor so the air has cooled before it is filtered.
