Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my cool air tube not cooling well?
On a CAT Cool Air Tube (or the heating/cooling CCT), weak cooling is nearly always an air-flow or heat-pickup problem, not the vortex tube itself:
- Inadequate air flow. Clean any debris from the inlet filter screen, and confirm 90 to 100 psi at the point of attachment — a pressure regulator and gauge must be installed where the respirator supply hose connects to the air source.
- Supply lines near a heat source. Keep the compressed-air lines away from radiators, furnaces, and direct sunlight.
- Vortex breaker loose, worn, or damaged — inspect and repair.
- CCT only: worn O-rings at the outlet end let hot and cold air mix — replace the O-rings.
